The minerals that make up the halide class include those in which the halogen elements of chlorine, bromine, fluorine, and iodine are combined with one or more metals.
Fluorite. The largest crystal was found in New Mexico. It weighed over 16,000 kg.
Minerals of the halide class all have:
  • relative low hardness
  • moderate to high melting points
  • poor conductors of heat and electricity
